A criminal case has been registered against Hyderabad-based local news and YouTube channel Meem TV News following a complaint from Jamia Nizamia. The complaint alleges that journalists from the channel entered the seminary premises without permission and attempted to create a disturbance.
The case was registered by Hussainialam Police on September 8, 2026. According to the report, Jamia Nizamia secretary Ahmed Mohiuddin Khan submitted the complaint, alleging that reporters associated with the channel entered the institution and questioned its officials in a manner that led to tension.

The FIR reportedly invokes provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
Section 329(4) – relating to house-trespass
Section 352 – intentional insult with the potential to provoke a breach of peace
Section 3(5) – dealing with criminal acts carried out by multiple persons with a common intention
Police have confirmed that an FIR was registered but, according to the report, declined to provide additional details while the investigation is continuing.
What happened at Jamia Nizamia?
According to Meem TV News CEO Sayed Sabdar Ali, the channel’s journalists had approached Jamia Nizamia seeking the institution’s response to the Telangana government’s recent auction of Waqf land at Raidurg.
The journalists named in the report are Ayesha Omer and Nabhia Omer. Ali said they asked several questions to Jamia Nizamia head Maulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, but he declined to respond.
The channel has reportedly shared footage of the interaction on its social-media platforms. Ali also alleged that there were attempts to take or snatch the journalists’ phones. These claims represent the channel’s version of events and are separate from the allegations made in the police complaint.
Meem TV News responds
Sayed Sabdar Ali criticised the filing of a criminal case against the channel, arguing that the matter should not have escalated into a police case. He also claimed that the channel had previously raised issues concerning government schools in Chandrayangutta and Ghouse Nagar and had faced a police complaint in that matter as well.
Connection with the Jamia Nizamia Waqf land dispute
The incident comes amid an ongoing dispute concerning Jamia Nizamia’s Waqf property in Raidurg.
The land was reportedly donated to Jamia Nizamia by Nawab Ghazi Yar Jung Bahadur in 1958. The ownership and legal status of the property have remained contested for years.
A Jamia Nizamia Waqf Land Protection Joint Action Committee (JAC) has also announced a Maha Dharna on September 13, calling for protection of the institution’s Waqf property.
