The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy in a disproportionate assets case after conducting extensive searches at multiple locations linked to him. Investigators allege that the officer accumulated assets worth nearly ₹300 crore, far exceeding his known sources of income. The arrest marks one of the biggest corruption cases involving a serving police officer in Telangana in recent years.
Why Was the DSP Arrested?
According to the ACB, Sankireddy Bheem Reddy allegedly acquired wealth through corrupt practices during his years in government service. After gathering preliminary evidence, the bureau registered a disproportionate assets case and carried out coordinated raids at 16 locations, including his residence and properties connected to relatives, friends, associates, and suspected benamis across Telangana and Karnataka.
Assets Allegedly Discovered
During the searches, investigators reportedly identified a vast portfolio of movable and immovable assets. These include:
A luxury villa in Vessella Meadows, Ibrahimbagh, Hyderabad.
A multi-storey residential building with a penthouse in Telecom Nagar.
Multiple residential flats in Hyderabad, including properties in Gachibowli.
Agricultural lands in Telangana and Karnataka.
Numerous plots, commercial properties, and investments.
Bank deposits, cash, jewellery, luxury vehicles, and other high-value assets.
The total estimated market value of these assets is believed to be close to ₹300 crore, though the final valuation will be completed during the investigation.
How the Investigation Progressed
The Anti-Corruption Bureau had reportedly been monitoring the officer’s financial activities before launching simultaneous raids. Investigators are examining property records, financial transactions, and digital evidence to determine whether the assets were acquired through illegal means and whether other individuals were involved in concealing ownership. Media reports also indicate that digital communications, including WhatsApp records, are being examined as part of the investigation.
Arrest and Court Proceedings
Following the searches, the ACB arrested Sankireddy Bheem Reddy from his residence in Hyderabad. He was produced before the designated Anti-Corruption Bureau court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. He has since been lodged in judicial custody while investigators continue collecting evidence.
Charges Against the Officer
The case has been registered under provisions relating to disproportionate assets and alleged corruption. Investigators will compare the officer’s legally declared income with the value of the assets discovered during the raids. If the prosecution establishes that the assets cannot be explained through legitimate earnings, additional legal proceedings may follow under anti-corruption laws.
