Six people were seriously injured in a road accident in Ghatkesar on Monday night after a speeding car collided with vehicles near Vignan College. Two of the injured were reported to be in critical condition and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 8:30 pm near Vignan College in the Ghatkesar area. The car was allegedly travelling at high speed when it struck vehicles carrying the victims. One report said the car collided with three bikes, while another described the incident as a collision involving a two-wheeler.
Six People Suffer Serious Injuries
The six injured individuals were identified in one police-based report as Umesh, Pradeep, Srujan, Ajay, Arun and K Ajay. They were travelling on three two-wheelers when the accident occurred, according to that report.
The collision caused severe injuries to all six victims. Two of them reportedly sustained particularly serious injuries and were described as being in critical condition.
Following the crash, bystanders and local residents reportedly rushed to the scene and helped the injured. The victims were subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment. Reports differ on the hospital involved, with accounts mentioning both Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital.
Driver Allegedly Under the Influence of Alcohol
Police sources cited by Siasat reported that the driver, identified as Venugopal, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place. Police also said that overspeeding contributed to the collision. The driver was reportedly taken into custody.
Deccan Chronicle also reported that preliminary information indicated the driver was allegedly in an inebriated condition and that police had taken him into custody while beginning an investigation.
The allegation of drunk driving remains part of the police investigation, and the precise circumstances surrounding the crash will be established through the investigation.
Police Begin Investigation
After receiving information about the accident, Ghatkesar police reached the location and began examining the circumstances that led to the collision.
A case was reportedly registered under Section 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the incident. Police are investigating the alleged speeding, the driver’s condition and the sequence of events leading to the crash.
Another report from Telangana Today gave a somewhat different account, stating that a speeding car travelling from Keesara towards Ghatkesar rammed into two vehicles at Kondapur in Ghatkesar. That report said the injured included four painters from Madhya Pradesh, aged between 22 and 24, and two students. It also stated that the driver fled the scene and that police launched a search for him.
Because the initial reports contain differences concerning the victims, vehicles and the driver’s subsequent status, those details should be treated as preliminary until police issue a consolidated statement.
