Businesswoman Deepti Reddy Madugula, who was declared brain-dead at a Hyderabad hospital, has become an organ donor after her family decided to honour her wish and donate her organs through Telangana’s Jeevandan organ-donation programme.
What happened?
According to reports, Deepti Reddy was admitted to a Hyderabad hospital after suffering a serious medical emergency. Telangana Today reported that she developed a sudden headache on September 22 and suffered an intracranial (IC) bleed. Despite treatment, her condition did not improve, and doctors declared her brain-dead on September 26.
Her husband, Pradeep Madugula, subsequently agreed to donate her organs. Reports identify him as a Telugu film director who has directed movies including Advaitham, Billa Ranga, Maine Pyar Kiya and Champion.
She had already pledged to donate her organs
An important detail in the story is that this was reportedly consistent with Deepti’s own wishes. Virat Foundation president Yash Veeragoni said Deepti had pledged to donate her organs on June 18, 2026. Her family chose to respect that decision after her death.
Her work
Deepti Reddy was associated with Womenergy and We Aim, and reports identify her as the founder of We Aim Foundation. Her work included initiatives connected with women’s empowerment.
Role of Jeevandan and Virat Foundation
After doctors declared Deepti brain-dead, the necessary procedures for organ donation were initiated with support from the Virat Foundation and through Jeevandan, Telangana’s state-run organ donation and transplantation programme.
