Residents of BS Maktha and MS Maktha in Hyderabad organised a large protest on Friday, July 10, 2026, after concerns spread that the State government was planning to remove houses in their neighbourhoods.
A large number of residents gathered near the Necklace Road railway station road to oppose the suspected eviction and demolition drive. The protesters expressed concern about losing their homes and demanded clear information and assurance from government authorities.
The demonstration
attracted the attention of officials from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA). HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath visited the area and interacted with the residents to address their concerns.
During the visit, the Commissioner assured residents that their houses would not be demolished. This clarification was intended to reduce fear among the local community and resolve concerns regarding the alleged eviction drive.
The protest highlighted
the uncertainty experienced by residents when reports or rumours about demolition activities circulate without clear official communication. Residents sought transparency from the authorities and protection for their homes.
Following the assurance from the HYDRAA Commissioner, residents received confirmation that no demolition action would be carried out against their houses. The situation was brought under control after officials communicated directly with the local community.
The protest demonstrates the importance of timely communication between government agencies and residents, particularly when matters involve housing, property and possible displacement.
