The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recovered ₹1.5 crore in cash from a bank locker linked to Sunkari Narahari Rao, Deputy Director of Survey and Land Records, Multi-Zone-II, Telangana, as part of a disproportionate assets (DA) case investigation.
Cash recovered from bank locker
The ACB team took Narahari Rao to a bank locker facility at Shahalibanda, Hyderabad, where the locker was opened after obtaining necessary legal permission.
Officials found ₹1.50 crore cash inside the locker.
The recovery came after earlier searches at multiple locations linked to the officer.
ACB raids and assets detected
The ACB had conducted searches at 10 locations connected to Narahari Rao and allegedly uncovered assets worth crores. The investigation is focused on whether the assets were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During the searches, officials reportedly found:
1. Cash of around ₹1.54 crore
2. Bank deposits of about ₹2.29 crore
3, Fixed deposits worth around ₹5.04 crore
4. Gold ornaments weighing approximately 1.3 kg
5. Around 8 kg silver
6. Property documents and other valuables
7. Properties under investigation
ACB officials reportedly identified documents related to several properties, including:
1. Open plots in Rangareddy district
2. Agricultural land at Maheshwaram
3. Residential flats in areas including Puppalaguda, Narsingi and Rajendranagar
4. Buildings in Gachibowli and Chatrinaka areas
5. Allegations and case details
The ACB registered a disproportionate assets case against Narahari Rao under corruption-related provisions. The agency is investigating allegations that assets were acquired beyond his known income sources.
Officials are also examining:
1. Financial transactions
2. Property ownership details
3. Possible benami assets
4. Records of official decisions handled during his service period
5. Investigation status
6. Narahari Rao was arrested by the ACB in connection with the case and was sent for judicial proceedings.
The bureau said the investigation is continuing and more assets may be verified.
