A major tragedy struck Kolkata’s Taratala area on Wednesday afternoon after an under-construction warehouse collapsed, leaving at least three people dead and several others trapped under the debris. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a large-scale operation to find survivors.
The incident took place at a warehouse structure near Brace Bridge/Transport Depot Road area in Taratala, where construction work was underway.
Several Workers Trapped Under Debris
According to officials, workers were present at the site when the structure collapsed. Emergency teams reported that many people were trapped beneath heavy concrete slabs, iron beams and construction material.
Rescue teams managed to pull out several injured workers and shifted them to nearby hospitals for treatment. Reports stated that around 21 people were rescued, while authorities feared more workers could still be trapped.
