In a crackdown on illegal gambling activities, the Rajendranagar Zone Task Force, in coordination with the Attapur Police, busted a gambling den in Panduranganagar, Attapur, Hyderabad, and arrested seven persons allegedly involved in gambling. The operation was carried out on the evening of 15 July 2026 after police received specific intelligence about illegal card gambling at an open ground behind a Hanuman temple.
How the Raid Was Conducted
According to police, the Task Force received credible information that a group of people had gathered to play cards for money in an open area. Acting swiftly, a joint team from the Rajendranagar Zone Task Force and Attapur Police raided the location and caught the accused while they were allegedly gambling for stakes. The suspects were taken into custody at the scene.
Who Were the Accused?
Police said the seven arrested individuals are between 26 and 50 years of age and work mainly as labourers. Most of them are residents of Panduranganagar and Attapur, while a few originally belong to Gulbarga and Yadgir districts in Karnataka. After their arrest, police completed the required legal formalities, including a confession-cum-seizure panchnama.
Items Seized During the Raid
During the operation, police recovered several items believed to have been used for illegal gambling. The seized materials included:
₹17,740 in cash
Five mobile phones
Two sets of playing cards
Officials believe these items were being used in the gambling activity and have been taken into police custody as evidence.
Legal Action Taken
Following the raid, Attapur Police registered a case under:
Section 112 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
Section 9(i) of the Gaming Act
The accused were formally arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Hyderabad Police said the operation was conducted as part of an ongoing drive against illegal gambling and other unlawful activities in the city. Officials reiterated that gambling is prohibited under state law and warned that strict action would continue against anyone found violating the law. They also appealed to the public to report illegal gambling activities to the police.
