India’s campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, is underway, with athletes competing across multiple disciplines including boxing, swimming, gymnastics, para swimming, para powerlifting, and lawn bowls. Day 2 of the Games offers India’s first major opportunities to add to its medal tally as several athletes compete in medal events.

India’s Key Performances So Far

India made a positive start to its campaign with strong performances in boxing and lawn bowls.

Lovlina Borgohain secured India’s first medal by advancing into the boxing semifinals, guaranteeing at least a bronze under Commonwealth Games rules.
In lawn bowls, Putul Sonowal impressed by defeating reigning world champion Ryan Bester in the men’s singles sectional match, giving India an encouraging start in the competition.

Swimming
