Ramayana Trailer Launch Delayed
The much-awaited trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been postponed, just hours before its scheduled global release on 24 July 2026. Producer Namit Malhotra announced the delay during the film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, while also revealing a major milestone—Sony Pictures Entertainment has joined the project as its global distributor.
Why Was the Trailer Postponed?
According to Namit Malhotra, the makers have decided to delay the trailer to prepare for a larger worldwide rollout. While he did not announce a new release date or specify a detailed reason for the postponement, he confirmed that the trailer will now be launched globally at a later time.
Sony Pictures Joins as Global Distributor
The biggest announcement was that Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute Ramayana internationally. Malhotra described the partnership as a proud moment for Indian cinema, saying it will help take one of India’s greatest epics to audiences across the world with the scale of a major Hollywood release.
A Global Vision for Indian Cinema
The producers have repeatedly said that Ramayana is designed as a global cinematic event. With Sony Pictures handling international distribution, the film is expected to receive a wider theatrical release across multiple countries and languages, introducing the epic to a much larger global audience.
Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features an impressive ensemble cast:
Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
Sai Pallavi as Sita
Yash as Ravana
Sunny Deol as Hanuman
Ravi Dubey as Lakshman
The film is being made as a two-part mythological epic with a reported combined budget of around ₹4,000 crore, making it one of India’s most ambitious film projects.
Release Plans
Although the trailer has been postponed, the film’s release schedule remains unchanged. Ramayana: Part 1 is currently planned for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while the second part is expected to follow later. The makers are expected to announce a new trailer launch date soon.
