Hyderabad: The Saidabad police have arrested a 21-year-old auto-rickshaw driver in connection with the murder of a man in Singareni Colony, bringing a swift breakthrough in a case that had shocked local residents.
The accused, identified as Endravath Suman, was taken into custody following an investigation into the killing of Mohammed Fasi Ahmed Ameer, who was fatally attacked on August 4 in Singareni Colony, Saidabad. According to investigators, the crime was the result of a long-standing personal dispute between the two men.
Personal rivalry led to fatal attack
Police said the victim and the accused had been involved in repeated disagreements for some time. On the day of the incident, the argument reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation. During the altercation, Suman allegedly attacked Ameer with a knife, inflicting severe injuries to his neck and head.
Local residents rushed the injured man to Osmania General Hospital, but doctors declared him dead. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack, prompting the police to launch an intensive search operation.
Murder weapon recovered
As part of the investigation, police questioned the accused after his arrest. Based on information provided during interrogation, officials recovered the alleged murder weapon from Saroornagar Lake with assistance from the HYDRA Disaster Response Force. Investigators said the knife had been thrown into the lake in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Police also seized the accused’s autorickshaw, blood-stained clothes, and a mobile phone, which are expected to play a key role in the ongoing investigation.
Legal action taken
A murder case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). After his arrest, the accused was produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
Senior officers from the Charminar Zone supervised the investigation, while Saidabad police completed the arrest and evidence collection within days of the crime.
Investigation continues
Police officials stated that they are continuing to examine all aspects of the case, including the sequence of events leading to the murder and the exact motive behind the attack. Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to proceed through legal channels.
