Traffic movement on the Nallagandla–Tellapur Road is set to be affected as authorities begin work on a new storm-water drainage system in the Tellapur area. The Cyberabad Traffic Police have announced diversions to facilitate the construction and prevent disruption around the work site. The restrictions are scheduled to begin on August 22, 2026, and are expected to remain in place for roughly 24–25 days.

Why are traffic restrictions being imposed?

The restrictions are linked to the construction of an RCC storm-water pipeline between SBI Bank at Tellapur and MM Wine Mart. The project is intended to improve drainage and address waterlogging problems, particularly around the SBI Tellapur junction during heavy rainfall.

To allow construction crews to work safely, one side of the road along the affected stretch will be completely closed. Vehicles will continue to move using the available side of the carriageway, under traffic-police regulation. The affected section is approximately 300 metres, between the SBI Tellapur U-turn and MM Wines U-turn.

When will the restrictions begin?

According to the traffic advisory, the restrictions will come into effect from Saturday, August 22. Different reports describe the expected duration as about 24 to 25 days, meaning motorists should anticipate changes in traffic movement through much of the construction period.

Officials have warned that traffic could move slowly in the area, particularly during busy periods. Commuters have therefore been advised to allow additional travel time and use alternative routes wherever possible.

Routes for motorists

The traffic police have suggested several alternatives for commuters travelling through Tellapur and surrounding areas.

Nallagandla to Tellapur, Osman Nagar and ORR Exit-2

Vehicles travelling from Nallagandla Circle towards Tellapur, Osman Nagar and ORR Exit-2 will be diverted through the available side of the road between the SBI Tellapur U-turn and MM Wines U-turn.

Nallagandla to Osman Nagar and Kollur

Motorists heading towards Osman Nagar and Kollur can use an alternative route through:

Nallagandla Circle → Neo Mall → Gopanpally X Road → Aliens Junction → Osman Nagar → ORR service road → Kollur Village.

This route is expected to help commuters avoid the main construction stretch.

Tellapur to RC Puram

People travelling from Tellapur Circle towards RC Puram have been advised to take the route through:

Tellapur Circle → Saibaba Temple → Railway Underbridge → Old MIG → RC Puram.

Kollur and Osman Nagar to Gachibowli

Commuters travelling from Kollur or Osman Nagar towards Gachibowli through Nallagandla can use:

Kollur → Osman Nagar → Aliens Junction → My Home Sayuk → Gopanpally Junction → Gowlidoddy → Wipro Circle → IIT Junction → Gachibowli.

Expected impact on commuters

The road restrictions are likely to affect people who regularly travel between Nallagandla, Tellapur, Osman Nagar, Kollur, RC Puram and Gachibowli. Since one side of the road will remain closed, traffic police expect slower movement and possible congestion around the diversion points.

The authorities have asked motorists to follow the instructions of traffic personnel and plan their journeys in advance. The diversions are intended to allow the drainage project to proceed while keeping traffic moving on the surrounding roads.
